Since our 1st cute birthday we have always celebrated an event with a host, cake, decorations and food. These items need to be well chosen according to what we want the outcome to be. We need to choose a theme and then how we will entertain this theme in our event.
Holding to tradition can be a bore but at the same time a necessity. The family elders expect tradition and this often leads to family conflict during a wedding. You can overcome the conflict by holding to tradition and brightening it with personal touches.
I aim to help the bride have a fantastic day with little stress.
I am a cake decorator, florist, event manager and buffet chef with both certificates and experience over many years.
I have managed numerous dinner events and weddings, 5 of which where family.
I was trained as a buffet chef by the linger-longer group.
Since the age of 10 I have been baking and icing cakes.
My first official course in cake decorating was done at Technikon Natal where I was runner-up in the cake competition. The cake I baked and iced was my 21st birthday cake.
Note the flower decoration on the horseshoe cake. The next cake I was to make was a wedding cake which was mentioned in the local newspaper. Recently I joined the South African Cake Decorators Guild.
I have done flowers for the church, reception and a farm wedding. Decorations in flowers that I have arranged are possies, garlands, bouquets and standing vases. I have covered cake in flower decorations made from sugar paste.
For my sisters wedding I transformed a village church into a country cathedral with flowers. And at a friends farm where no more could be done due to the splendour of the home I created table arrangements to compliment.
I love to entertain and find a wedding to be a true expression of my skills.
